Weekly Bonus for the week of February 7:
Complete the following assignment using the Supplemental Guide and the Internet as tools. Some useful sites for this assignment are: The Protein Data Bank and Pubmed. This assignment is due at the start of class on Thursday, February 11. As usual, failure to completely answer the questions will result in no points awarded. As usual, there is no partial credit for Bonus Questions such as these.
Select 5 different motifs from the Supplemental guide and identify a different protein that possesses each motif. You will need to describe: the organism the protein comes from, the role of the protein in the organism, the role of the motif in the protein.
This assignment is meant to be VERY difficult and will require you to use the internet in ways you have never used it before (meaning the answer won't be found on Wikipedia, the iTunes Store or Facebook). Only part of this exercise is on chemistry, the other part is an exercise in finding and searching through information to extract relevant facts.
Successful completion of this exercise will result in 15 points being awarded to you. |
