Winthrop Chemistry Students Experience Summer 2003 Internsips and Research Fellowships (6/15/03)

These Winthrop University's chemistry students have been awarded summer 2003 research fellowships and internships.  Some of these positions were nationally advertised and competitively selected--often, there were over 10 applications for each opening--Congratulations to these individuals and great job this summer!!! 
Beth Baynard, a senior chemistry major, has been awarded a summer fellowship to conduct research on the “Supramolecular Structures of Coordination Polymers Formed from Linked Ligands,” under the direction of Dr. T. Christian Grattan, Assistant Professor of Chemistry.

Devon Bork, a junior chemistry major, has been awarded a summer fellowship to conduct research on the “Production of a Recombinant C8? Protein Fragment for Structural Analysis,” under the direction of Dr. Chasta L. Parker, Assistant Professor of Chemistry.

Deon Dash, a junior chemistry major, has obtained an internship position with Rhodia Chemicals in Rock Hill, SC.

Beth Dimond, a junior chemistry major, has been awarded a summer fellowship to conduct research on the “Production of a Recombinant C8a Protein Fragment for Structural Analysis,” under the direction of Dr. Chasta L. Parker, Assistant Professor of Chemistry.

Jeremy Dodds, a senior chemistry major, obtained a position with Atotech Corporation, an international manufacturer of electroplating chemicals headquartered in Rock Hill, to work in the Applications Chemistry Division.

Antuaan Herriot, a senior chemistry major, obtained a position with Atotech Corporation, an international manufacturer of electroplating chemicals headquartered in Rock Hill, to work in the Research Chemistry Division.

Michael Morant, a junior chemistry major, has been awarded a summer fellowship to conduct research on the “Supramolecular Structures of Coordination Polymers Formed from Linked Ligands,” under the direction of Dr. T. Christian Grattan, Assistant Professor of Chemistry.

Kelly Murphy, a junior chemistry major, has been awarded a summer fellowship to conduct research on the “Production of a Recombinant C8? Protein Fragment for Structural Analysis,” under the direction of Dr. Chasta L. Parker at Winthrop University.

Jennifer O’Neal, a senior chemistry major, has been awarded an NSF REU summer research fellowship at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Nisheeth Rai, a sophomore chemistry major, has been awarded a summer fellowship to conduct research on the “Production of a Recombinant C8a Protein Fragment for Structural Analysis,” under the direction of Dr. Chasta L. Parker. and a fellowship by the Department of Chemistry to study polyphenol content in various agricultural products under the direction of Dr. Theo Zainal.

Anna Vagstad, a senior chemistry major, has been awarded an NSF REU summer fellowship at the Unversity of Florida to conduct biomedical research.
