Brief Biography:
Place of Birth: Menoxoito, Eritrea
Prior to coming to the US in 1970, I taught math and physics in Ethiopia. Dr. M. J. Skove of Clemson University whom I met when he was a Fulbright visiting professor in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia encouraged me to attend Clemson as a physics graduate student (1970 --1975).
I was a visiting assistant professor of physics at NC State University (1975-1976)
I taught physics to transfer and vocational students at Pensacola Jr. College (1976--1978)
I have been mostly at Winthrop since 1978.
During a sabbatical year in 1991--1992, I was a King-Chavez-Parks Visiting
Professor of Physics at Michigan State U.

I was one of seven theoretical physicists
selected to participate in this program. I had the opportunity to listen to a
variety of seminars given by leading physicists from all over the world. I was
introduced to String Theory. I gave a seminar to theorists from mostly
undergraduate institutions on
