1. Miller and Miller, Exercise 4.2
1. Generate Shewhart mean and range control charts for the six months of quality control data provided in the spreadsheet. You will need to group the raw data by date and calculate both means and ranges for each day. The Shewhart plots record only daily means or ranges, not individual data points. You must use the first 30 days of baseline quality control test data to establish initial Shewhart control chart warning and control limits for this recently developed method; plot all six months of data using these limits..
· For the mean control chart
o Use the first 30 days of data to establish the target reading and to determine warning and control limits for the six month period.
o Use the data to calculate warning and control limits showing work on a separate excel worksheet
· For the range control chart
o Use the average daily range from the first 30 days of data to determine the target range
o Use the range standard deviation from the first 30 days of ranges to establish warning and control limits for the range
o Calculate warning and control limits showing work on a separate excel worksheet.
Note: Plot and clearly label both charts showing daily data points (markers and lines), both control and warming limits (showing lines) and the target mean or range.
