Course Description
SCIE 101X –
Eagle STEM Seminar / Learning Through Community is a 0
credit hour seminar course designed to help prepare biology and chemistry
scholars for the transition from high school to college.
Course Objectives
·
Learn
tools for successful transition from high school to college.
·
Interface
with faculty and upperclassmen to learn requirements for students to excel
academically.
·
Begin
transition from student to scientist through technical and professional
development seminars.
·
Develop
sense of community and collaborative relationships.
·
Begin
to integrate into the Global Learning Initiative at Winthrop University.
Student Competencies

Demonstrate
ability to problem solve through critical thinking.

Demonstrate
collaborative and leadership skills.

Develop

Grading: This is a 0 credit hour course.
However, attendance at all seminars is expected as the seminar series has been
designed to flow from one seminar to the next building a foundation for
academic success. Students are urged to keep a journal noting key seminar
lessons learned.
